What does an AOC allow you to do?

A

It allows an individual or organisation to operate an aircraft for the purpose of commercial air transport (Charging passengers and/or cargo to fly on your aircraft).

What are the 3 main types of AOC

A

1) A-to-B full - all the big airlines have this. Can fly domestically or internationally in all weather, IFR conditions, scheduled services or ad-hoc charters
2) A-to-B restricted - aerial photography, skydiving aircraft etc. - day VFR and points within the UK mainland, light aircraft.
3) A-to-A - flights must depart and land at the same aerodrome, day VFR only. Light aircraft. Limit to 50 nautical miles for aircraft.
