WEEK 2: Radiology of the Upper Limbs AND lower limbs Flashcards
What are the most common fractures in Children?
Most common fracture in children.
Supracondylar fractures are a classic pediatric injury which requires vigilance as imaging findings can be subtle.
Anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) avulsion injuries
typically occur in athletes during forceful muscular
contraction.
State the 2 muscles that attach on it.
The anterior superior iliac spine is the site
of attachment for sartorius and tensor fascia
latae muscles.
Segond fracture is an avulsion fracture of the knee that involves the lateral aspect of the tibial plateau and is very frequently (~75% of cases)
State the ligament associated with that.
Associated with disruption of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)
State OTHER IMAGING MODALITIES.
- Ultrasound
- CT
- MRI
- Nuclear Imaging
State the views for an X-ray.
Frontal, lateral, oblique, special views
