Ontario adopted the National Drug Scheduling System model of the NAPRA (National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities). These are the categories used in the province:

- Schedule 1 Drug:
For DH: - Only chlorhexidine can be prescribed, dispensed or sold
-Arestin and Atridox can be bought and used by DH BUT NOT PRESCRIBED by DH - Schedule 2 Drugs
E.g. nitroglycerin for medical emergency kit - Schedule 3 Drugs
E.g. Fluorides used in the prevention, with 1MG OR LESS of Fl - per dosage unit. - Schedule U
E.g. acetaminophen, ibuprofen, aspirin
