Implementing processes with an emphasis on focusing on the present.

A quality of an individual or group that results in inspiring, encouraging or engaging others.
Thinking ahead and capitalising on opportunities. This requires a focus on the future. (Set the vision)

Creating value (e.g, enabling people to perform at their best)
What are some skills required for management?
Implementing instructions to complete tasks
Focus on day to day challenges
Focused on goal completion
What are some skills required for leadership?
Emotional intelligence to understand others
Focus on future strategy
Emotional intelligence for influencing others
What is task oriented leadership?
A form of leadership that mainly focuses on completing a task.
What is people oriented leadership?
A form of leadership that mainly focuses on team morale
Give one benefit and drawback of a task oriented leadership
Benefit- The job will get done
Drawback- Can be dehumanising
Give one benefit and drawback of a people oriented leadership
Benefit- More likely to produce creative and innovative solutions.
Drawback- if you adopt this and focus more on people, you may lose sight of the goals that need to be achieved.
This means your’e less likely to complete tasks successfully
What form of leadership does management require?
Management requires mostly task orientated leadership with good managers also using people orientated leadership
What form of leadership do leaders need?
Leadership requires both task and people orientated leadership in order to influence others and to think about strategy.
What is the optimal way of demonstrating rounded leadership?
In order to demonstrate rounded leadership, we need to give our brain space and time to think so that we can use both networks especially when planning strategy.
Different networks in the brain are active for each of these leadership styles and these networks cannot be used simultaneously.
What does the tower of London task measure?
Cold decision making
What does the Cambridge gamble task measure?
Hot decision making under risk
Why is there increased risk taking in teenagers?
Because they are not able to regulate their emotional response to the same extent as older adults.
