Origin of “Fiji”
A
- in 1879 “fee gee” was proposed by the New York chapter
- “phi gamma” from Ohio, and also “delta” which was later confirmed by the other fraternities whose name includes that letter
- southern states called us “gamma” for a while
- at the 1894 convention, “Fiji” was happily decided

What is Frank Norris Pig Dinner
A
- first pig dinner was held at university of California at Berkeley in 1893
- longest continually running annual grad event in the Greek world
- Frank Norris staged the ceremony and led the song “all hail the pig”
- wrote “an exile toast” when he could not attend in 1900

What is Founders Day
A
- actual date of Phi Gamma Delta was April 22nd HOWEVER first meetin and adoption of the constitution was May 1st, 1848, making it the official founding date
- this decision was made at the 43rd annual convention in 1891
