Structure
All the circumstances (social, political, economic, etc.) that influence or limit those choices
Significance: Linked with agency, historians study how each one shapes the other
Determinism
The extent to which events in history are determined or constrained by some factor and therefore in a sense inevitable
Significance: A form of how historians study cause and consequence
Contingency
The extent to which events in history are not constrained or predetermined, and depend on too many variables to predict
