Week 1 - What is CPS? Flashcards
Cyber Physical Systems (CPS)
The integration of computing and physical domain, to improve the reliability and performance of a physical system.
Include hardware such as sensors, actuators and similar embedded systems that interact with the real world as well as with complex software elements

Cybernetics
A wide-ranging field concerned with regulatory and purposive systems. Are various kinds of automatic control devices in engineering for example, an automatic pilot or a controller that maintains a constant temperature in a room.
CPS and Cyber Systems
One of the biggest difference between CPS and cyber systems is that the (actuator) operations in CPS are often non-reversable. Rollback is usually available in cyber systems however, consequences of physical operations performed by the actuators are usually not reversable (either very difficult or impossible).
