What foramen does the facial nerve emerge on to the face?
stylomastoid foramen
What are some symptoms of bells palsy?
drooping eyelid, cannot close eye
cannot close mouth, droop
difficult to chew food - bite inside of cheek
How does the parotid duct enter the oral cavity?
Overlies the masseter and pierce the buccinators and enter opposite the 2nd upper maxillary molar
What salivary glands does the facial nerve innervate?
submandibular and sublingual
What nerve carries parasympathetic fibres for the parotid gland?
glossopharyngeal
Sympathetic innervation to the parotid gland is by what means?
cervical ganglia through the ECA
