- increased satiety
- decreased absorption
- altered release of GI hormone

- requires frequent adjustment and a lot of compliance and motivation
- weight loss is not as much as other surgeries

- remove greater curve of stomach
- restrictive
- produces early satiety and anorexia but no malabsorption

-small gastric pouch created that is attached to the small bowel

- sleeve gastrectomy: restrictive
- food and digestive limbs of intestines are divided so less time for food to digest: malabsorption
- not as commonly done.
