Week 1 - Review Flashcards
List channels from most superficial to deepest and the total number of each
Cutaneous regions - 12 Tendinomuscular channels - 12 Luo vessels - 15 Primary channels - 12 Divergent pathways - 12 Extraordinary channels - 8
Describe the directional path of each type of channel
Cutaneous - no direction
Tendinomuscular channels - Jing Well ->knot at joints -> interior
Luo vessels - break off from channel below elbow/knee and travel parallel to primary channel
Divergent - break off from channel above elbow/knee -> enter zang/fu -> neck/face
Extraordinary channels - all run vertically except Dai
List function(s) of the cutaneous regions
hold wei qi to protect from external invasion
List function(s) of the tendinomuscular channels
circulate wei qi
strengthen joint articulation
List function(s) of Luo vessels
hold external pathogens that have penetrated Wei level
List function(s) of primary channels
- transport Qi & blood
- resist pathogens
- regulate excess & deficiency
List function(s) of divergent pathways
- carry wei qi into zang/fu
- hold emotional/psychological trauma
List function(s) of extraordinary vessels
-resevoirs of qi, blood, yin, yang
List treatments that address the cutaneous regions
gua sha, surround the dragon, external applications, diagnosis
List treatments that address the tendinomuscular channels
needle, tui na, shiatsu, massage, cupping, moxa, external applications, eletrical stimulation
Luo vessels are strongly associated w/ what tissue?
Blood
