The science of preventing disease, prolonging life and promoting health through organised efforts of society.
What does the WHO state that Public health services should do?

What is OHID

The office for health improvement and disparities
What is the purpose of OHID?
Focus on improving nation’s healthy so that everyone can expect to live more life in good health, level up health disparities and break the link between backgorund and prospects for a healthy life.
What do OHID do?
- work across organisational boudnaries
- focus on preventing ill health, the places and communities where there are most significant disparities
- act against the biggest preventable risk factors: smoking, obesity, alcohol and drug misuse
National responsibility of OHID?
→Building scientific evidence and developing policy on these core areas:
- healthy weight
- children and familys health
- smoking and addiction
- vulnerable gorups
- mental health
→ Leading PH data management
→ Surveillance of non-communicable diseases
→ Provide advice to nurses, midwifes and AHPs
