What is clinical epidemiology?

A

Looks at what happens after people with illnesses are seen by a clincal care provider:

-Studies of the natural history of an illness
-Studies of diagnostic screening tests, and
-Observational and experimental studies of interventions used to treat people with the the illness or symptoms.

A

-All diagnosible mental disorders (DSM-5).
-Mood may be impaired (e.g., depression)

A

-DSM-5 has been revised and is used by health care professionals world-wide and provides a common language for the diagnosis of mental disorders.

-Has expanded cirteria for mental disorder and looks at a person’s symptoms in clusters: includes sociocultural considerations.

-Provides a common laugnuage from a variety of disciplines to communicatie about their patients with the goal to develop more consistent and reliable diagnoses that can be used in the research of mental disorders.

-Official guide for diagnosing 350 disorders.

A

Resilence seen as a social construct that has a process and outcome, Closely associated to adapting.

Having resiliency during periods of stressors, tragedies, loss, trauma allows people to recognize feelings, help them deal with them, and learn from experience.
