Extension
Increases the angle between the bones of the limb at a joint.
Flexion
Decreases the angle between the bones of the limb at a joint.
Opposition
Thumb and another finger from same hand touching.
Reposition
Thumb and finger return to original position.
Supination
Palm and forearm facing upwards.
Pronation
Palm and forearm facing down.
Abduction
Movement away from the midline (3rd digit of hand can have lateral and medial abduction).
Adduction
Movement toward the midline.
Lateral/medial rotation
Outward/inward rotation.
Plantarflexion
Extension of ankle so foot points down and away from leg.
Dorsiflexion
Pulling toes towards shins.
Eversion
Movement of the sole away from medial plane.
Inversion
Movement of sole toward medial plane.
Elevation
Movement in a superior direction.
Depression
Movement in the inferior direction.
