When to use Focused mode?
- When you focus your thought to understand something.
What is the diffuse mode?
In this diffuse mode of thinking, you can look at things broadly from a very different,
big picture perspective.
You can make new neural connections traveling along new pathways
What do you do when you just can’t figure something out or learning something a little difficult and new?
When first you use focused mode to think about a problem then use tech Diffuse mode to use all chunks stored in long memory to come up with a new creative idea.
How does Focused mode work ?
Your thoughts follow the pattern of these though place
what is spaced repetition?
Space the knowledge learning through out the week so it build better connection in the brain
What do you do when facing a NEW problem that you couldn’t comprehend ?
Use focused mode , then diffuse mode. Give the idea, problem to settle in your brain for a day or 2 so the brain make strong connection around that idea.
How do you deal with ideas coming to you while studying or thinking about something ?
Take a note immediately when you get an idea or solution
What helps you remember new things ?
- Use Analogy, metaphor, examples, and stories
- Use all you senses [ Vision and space has a big area in the brain ]
- Try to make a vivid revoking picture [ Flying donkey ], try to smell, feel ..etc.
- Say it out loud
- group ideas or concept to one word
- Associate numbers with date or numbers you remember [ birth dates, special year like 1969]
what is ‘Working memory’?
The memory that handles what you’re immediately and consciously processing in your mind.
1- Is like a bad RAM, you have to repeat the info in order to stick 2- You can handle 4 things. 3- Has access to Long Term Memory. 4- You have to repeat in order to move info to long term memory.
what is “ Long term works “?
when remembering old things, you need some work to save info into long memory and it needs a refresher from time to time
How does sleep help your learning something ?
Sleep helps the brain organize and gather related info together and get rid of un-wanted information
what is a Pomodoro technique ?
Focus for at least 25 mins without any distractions , reward yourself after that. break could be 5 minutes.
This techniques helps fighting procrastination.
How do you highlight ?
Highlight very little, and never highlight anything you haven’t put in your mind first by recalling
