Q

what can be said in summary of the primary direction that Genesis points us, as we think about God, and the purpose and nature of life?

A

Genesis is a fundamentally optimistic book, relating to us the grandeur of God, and his intentions for all of Creation and humanity and how, in spite of humankind’s propensity towards sin and destruction (and the terrifying judgment of God over sinful humanity), God has done more than simply create – he has chosen to intervene to cleanse and restore. Hope has arisen in his special selection of a people that will one day lead to the full realization of a total restoration of Creation.
