Where the user and the system interact
Usability
How effectively, efficiently, and satisfactory a user can interact with a user interface
Effectiveness
A general measure of how good a system is at doing what it as supposed to do
Efficiency
The way a system supports people carrying out their tasks
Utility
The extent to which a system provides the right functionality
Learnability
How easy is it for users to learn to accomplish their tasks?
Memorability
How easy is it to remember how to use a system?
Satisfaction
How pleasant (or not) is it to use the system?
Role of HCI Professionals
Be the users advocate
Discoverability
Can you figure out what actions are possible?,
Where and how do you perform these actions?
Understanding
How do i use this?
Mental Models
Adaptive belief constructs used to describe, explain, and predict situations
Conceptual Model
The underlying understanding that a person has about how a technology or device works so that the user has some idea that if they perform action A, then action B will follow
User model
User’s understanding of how the system works
Design model
Design team’s representation of the system
