What is a health inequity

A

Systematic persistent differences in health, health outcomes, and life trajectories that vary along gradients. They’re unfair, unearned, human cause and therefore changeable.

What is privilege

A

An unfair, unearned advantage because of who you happen to be. It does not relate to effort.

A

An unearned disadvantage, the opposite of privilege

What is important to consider when we talk about inequity

A

Inequities are not inevitable or mysterious, they have causes and we should not place blame on the individuals that are suffering, we need to remember the system of oppression and privilege and acknowledge that it is human caused and changeable.
