A

A jurisprudence exam is a test of your states laws and regulations. All licensed PT’s and PTA’s should know the practice act and rules that govern their practice.

A

Practice Exam and Assessment Tool. It is the best way to practice for the NPTE. It is two times tests 225 questions each.

Can you share information from the NPTE?

A

The NPTE is a property of the FSBPT. It is illegal to share any information about the NPTE. This includes a question recalled from memory, or asking people who have taken the exam to recall questions. It is unlawful to socilicit recalled information from the NPTE. If an individual violates the security of the NPTE they will severely damage their chances of ever being licensed in any jurisdiction.

What is ethics?

A

Ethics are moral principles that govern behavior and conduct. The APTA has a Code of Ethics for Physical Therapy. The FSBPT developed the Model Practice Act for Physical Therapy to establish a strong foundation of laws and regulatory standards.

What is the connection between FSBPT and the consumer board of Affairs of California?

A

The Physical Therapy Board of California protects the interests of the people of California. It has the primary responsibility of licensing and regulating the practice of PTs and PTAs.
The FSBPT issues the NPTE and Jurisprudence exams that pertain to each state which includes California.

What is the connection between FSBPT, the consumer board of affairs for California and CAPTE?

A

The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) is an accrediting agency that grants specialized accreditation status to qualified entry-level education programs for PT’s and PTA’s. FSBPT owns and distributes the NPTE. The Consumer Board of Affairs for California has responsibilities that come from the Physical Therapy Practice Act which gives them the ability to have authority to investigate complaints against PTs and PTAs.

There are several sections: acute car, aquatics, cardiovascular and pulmonary, clinical electrophysiology and wound care, education, federal, geriatric, hand and upper extremity, home health, leadership and innovation, neurology, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics, pelvic health, private practice, research, sports.

What are the requirements to get a physical therapy certification?

A

To get any Physical Therapy Certification, approved exam candidates must be PTs who hold current unrestricted physical therapy licenses to practice in the United States. Applicants can follow the requirements of Option A or Option B. For Option A, the applicant must submit evidence of 2,000 hours of direct patient care as a licensed US PT in the speciality area within the last 10 years (500 hours in the last 3 years). For Option B, applicant must submit evidence of completion of an APTA accredited clinical residency in the last 10 years.
