What is a web browser and how does it work?
Software application used to browse WWW.
It works by sending a request to a web server and then receives a response containing the content that is to be displayed on your device
What does URL stand for and what is a URL?
The address bar where you put the address of the website you want to visit.
Address is: Uniform Resource Locator
Contains the protocol (HTTP), domain name, name of website and file path (path to the page that is displayed)
What happens when you make a request using a URL? AKA Request Response Cycle
An exchange of information known as Request Response Cycle. This process occurs when the browser and server communicate using a protocol known as Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP).
Once content is received by web browser, it displays on device screen
What are the steps of the request response cycle?
1: Open web browser
2. Type search (contains domain name), press enter
3. Browser sends request across network and connects to a web server
4. Server responds by sending webpage back to browser making the webpage visible
