Image Map
an image that has been divided into regions called hotspots; when a user clicks a hotspot, an action occurs (for example, a new file opens).
Listserv
an application that creates, automates, and manages email mailing lists.
Mailing List
a list of the names and addresses of people to whom material.
Pop-up Window
a window that automatically appears (“pops up”) on a website while the user is browsing, often by itself.
Search engine
a web-based software tool that helps locate information on the Internet.
Status Bar
a small area at the bottom of a window.
Streaming
Streaming is the playback of music, video, or other media over the Internet while it progressively downloads.
Tagging
to mention (another person or account) in a social media post in a way that causes the person or account to be notified of the post.
Template
a file that serves as a starting point for a new document.
Traffic
web users who visit a website.
User Session
o a series of user application interactions that are tracked by the server.
Web Browser
A web browser, or simply “browser,” is an application used to access and view websites.
WYSIWYG
Stands for “What You See Is What You Get,” and is pronounced “wihzeewig.” WYSIWYG refers to software that accurately represents the final output during the development phase.
