Anchor Text
Anchor text — or link text — is the visible, clickable text of a link. It usually appears in a different color than the surrounding text and is often underlined. Good link text tells the reader what to expect if they click on the link.
Banner Ad
A web banner or banner ad is a form of advertising on the World Wide Web delivered by an ad server. This form of online advertising entails embedding an advertisement into a web page. It is intended to attract traffic to a website by linking to the website of the advertiser.
Bandwidth
a range of frequencies within a given band, in particular that used for transmitting a signal.
bitmap
a representation in which each item corresponds to one or more bits of information, especially the information used to control the display of a computer screen.
bookmark
a strip of leather, cardboard, or other material used to mark one’s place in a book.
domain name
the part of a network address that identifies it as belonging to a particular domain.
download
copy (data) from one computer system to another, typically over the internet.
flash
(of a light or something that reflects light) shine in a bright but brief, sudden, or intermittent way.
frames
a rigid structure that surrounds or encloses something such as a door or window.
gateway
an opening that can be closed by a gate.
hit
bring one’s hand or a tool or weapon into contact with (someone or something) quickly and forcefully.
home page
A home page is the primary web page that a visitor will view when they navigate to a website via a search engine, and it may also function as a landing page to attract visitors. In some cases, the home page is a site directory, particularly when a website has multiple home pages.
hotspot
a small area or region with a relatively hot temperature in comparison to its surroundings.
hyperlink
a link from a hypertext file or document to another location or file, typically activated by clicking on a highlighted word or image on the screen.
java script
JavaScript, often abbreviated as JS, is a programming language that is one of the core technologies of the World Wide Web, alongside HTML and CSS. As of 2023, 98.7% of websites use JavaScript on the client side for webpage behavior, often incorporating third-party libraries.
