anchor text
the text that appears highlighted in a hypertext link and that can be clicked to open the target web page.
banner ad
Clickable banner ads can be found on the top, side, or bottom of a website, and they’re used to drive traffic to a business website. They’re a type of pay-per-click (PPC) ad that allows businesses to attract attention.
bandwidth
a range of frequencies within a given band, in particular that used for transmitting a signal.
bitmap
a representation in which each item corresponds to one or more bits of information, especially the information used to control the display of a computer screen
bookmark
A bookmark is a place holder for a web page that will allow you quick access to that page instead of having to browse to it or search for it.
domain name
the part of a network address that identifies it as belonging to a particular domain.
download
Downloading is the transmission of a file or data from one computer to another over a network, usually from a larger server to a user device. Download can refer to the general transfer of data or to transferring a specific file. It can also be called to download, DL or D/L.
flash
Flash memory, also known as flash storage, is a type of nonvolatile memory that erases data in units called blocks and rewrites data at the byte level. Flash memory is widely used for storage and data transfer in consumer devices, enterprise systems and industrial applications.
frames
In networking, a frame is a unit of data. A frame works to help identify data packets used in networking and telecommunications structures. Frames also help to determine how data receivers interpret a stream of data from a source.
gateway
- A computer that sits between different networks or applications. The gateway converts information, data or other communications from one protocol or format to another. A router may perform some of the functions of a gateway.
hit
A hit, in the context of Web servers, is a particular page request command that seeks access to a record on a Web server. Hits are a method of monitoring the traffic on a specific website. The more hits (or requests), the more traffic is thought to be visiting the page.
home page
What Does Home Page Mean? A home page is the default or front page of a site. It is the first page that visitors see when they load a URL. Web managers can control the home page as a way of directing the user experience.
hotspot
A hot spot in computer science is most usually defined as a region of a computer program where a high proportion of executed instructions occur or where most time is spent during the program’s execution (not necessarily the same thing since some instructions are faster than others).
hyperlink
An area on a Web page that, when clicked on with a mouse, will transport the user to another Web page
java script
JavaScript is a scripting or programming language that allows you to implement complex features on web pages
