Weather Sybole & Toolz Flashcards
Air mass
a body of air with horizontally uniform temperature, humidity, and pressure.
Continental polar air
Continental Polar Air Masses cold temperatures and little moisture.
Martime tropical air
Maritime tropical air masses originate over the warm waters of the tropics and Gulf of Mexico, where heat and moisture are transferred
Warm front
the boundary of an advancing mass of warm air, in particular the leading edge of the warm sector of a low-pressure system.
Cold front
the boundary of an advancing mass of cold air, in particular the trailing edge of the warm sector of a low-pressure system.
Stationary front
A stationary front is a pair of air masses, neither of which is strong enough to replace the other.
Occluded front
a composite front produced by occlusion.
Anemometer
A tool you use to measure the speed of the wind.
Rain gauge
A tool you use to measure how much rain has fallen.
Wind vane
A tool that users to measure were the wind is going
