The current state of the atmosphere
What is climate?
It’s what the weather is like USUALLY for a certain plains at a certain time.
Name the 6 climate zones
Tropical: Hot + High levels of Rain
Temperate: Ccccold winters + Mild Summers
Mediterranean: Mild winders + Dry Hot Summers
Dry/Arid: Dry & Hot all year round
Cold/Mountains: Very cold all year
Polar: Very cold and dry all year
How does LATITUDE influence climate?
Equator gets more direct sunlight and the poles are too far away
How do the OCEANS influence climate?
They absorb the sun’s heat and transport heat to the globe
How do PREVAILING WINDS influence climate?
Carry heat or moisture
How does ALTITUDE influence climate?
As you go higher up, the atmosphere gets thinner and colder - think of Mount Everest
How do HUMANS influence climate?
They alter the atmosphere by pumping carbon dioxide into the air.
