Weather and Climate Flashcards
Practice for Weather and Climate quiz on Friday.
What’s Global Warming?
An increase in global temperatures caused by high levels of greenhouse gases.
What’s Convection?
A rising and sinking of a liquid or gas due to difference in temperature and density.
What’s The Atmosphere
A layer of glasses that surrounds the planet.
What’s Air Pressure?
A measure of force with which air particles push on matter.
What’s Humidity?
A measure of the amount of water vapor in the air.
What’s Air Mass?
A very large body or air that has a similar temperature and humidity throughout.
What’s A Front?
A boundary that forms between air masses.
What’s A Meteoroligsit?
A scientist who studies weather.
What’s Percolation/Infiltration?
The process in which liquid water passes into soil.
What’s Temperature?

What’s the difference between weather and climate?
Weather is rain, thunder, hail, and wind. While climate is what will change in the atmosphere.
What are the four layers of Earth’s atmosphere?
Earth’s atmosphere has 4 layers: troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, and thermosphere.
Describe 2 ways clouds can form.
1: Air temperature stays the same but humidity increases.
2: Humidity stays the same but temperature decreases.
What are the four types of clouds?
Stratus clouds, Cumulonimbus clouds, Cirrus clouds, and Cumulus clouds.
