Weather/Alternate Rules Flashcards
What are the alternate requirements for Army aircraft?
A - Aircraft must have two seperate ground aid receivers
C - More than SCT below HAA/HAT + 500ft
V - When forecast includes 30% chance of vis below min +2000m
W - Wind limits are not applicable to army aircraft
P - Provisional forecast
L - Runway lighting in required by night, if no standby power then a portable light (T-VASIS) must be setup by a responsible person
S - When forecast includes 30% or more chance of TS
What is the significance of a TAF 3?
Removes the 30min buffer from predicted weather such as BCMG, FM etc
(WIP)
What is the impact of a failure of the HIAL system for precision and non-precision approaches?
Precision: Add 1,500m to the vis requirement on the plate
Non precision: Add 900m to the vis requirement on the plate
What are the Wx related alternate minima?
Cloud: more than SCT below HAT/MDA + 500ft
VIs: When below req vis on plate +2000m
If the FZLVL is at 8,000ft, how high can you expect to fly if you want OAT to remain above 5ºC?
2ºC per 1000ft lapse rate = 5ºC separation is 2500ft = 5,500ft max ALT
What is the biggest risk regarding low freezing levels?
Aircraft may get stuck between a low freezing level and the relevant LSALT, unable to descent or climb
