Weather Flashcards
What are the stages of Factors Affecting Precipitation?
1-Westerly wind picks up moisture from the Atlantic.
2-Air is forced to rise over the mountains.
3-Air cools as it rises.
4-Cooling causes cloud droplets to form (condensation).
5-Further cooling causes water droplets to form (precipitation).
6-Air descents, warms and produces drier conditions. This is called a rain shadow.
What are the 5 Air Masses?

Polar Maritime
Polar Continental

What are the 4 Impacts of Weather?
Hot weather
Cold weather

What do the Isobars show?
Isobars are lines showing equal air pressure. The further the Isobar lines are the less winds there are. The closer they are more wind is.
What are Weather Fronts?
Weather Fronts mark the front of a section of Warm or Cold air.
Warm Front-Semi Circles
Cold Front-Triangles
Occluded Front-Semi Circle and Triangle
What are the 5 stages of Depression?
1-As the Warm front Approaches.
2-At the Warm front.
3-In the Warm sector.
4-At the Cold front.
5-As the Cold front Passes.
