Weather Flashcards
Air pressure
The force exerted by air, whether compressed or unconfined,on any surface in contact with it.
Tropical
Temperatures vary from day to day but remain fairly constant from month to month. During the rainy season, which lasts an average of six months, rainfall is more or less constant. Central Africa and the part of Eastern Africa that lies south of the Sahara Desert has a mostly tropical climate. Regions near the equator, such as Gabon, Republic of Congo, and the northern third of the Democratic Republic of Congo, have the longest rainy seasons. The remainder of the year is dry.

Cirrus cloud
thin, wispy-looking clouds; commonly found at heights greater than 6 km
Thermometer
a device used to measure temperature
Tropical depression
a region of low pressure with counter-clockwise wind rotation that develops into a hurricane or tropical storm
Ocean current
large-scale movement of water within the oceans in a certain direction
Dew point
the temperature at which water vapor in the air condenses into water
Hurricane
a storm with strong winds and rain that forms over tropical waters
Desert
an area that gets little precipitation and has very little vegetation
Typhoon
a hurricane or tropical storm originating in the Pacific Ocean
Humidity
the measure of how much water vapor is in the air
Forecast
to analyze weather data and make an educated guess about weather in the future
Atmosphere
layers of gas that surround a planet
