What is a weapon?
(1) anything/designed/intended to be used
(2) causing death/injury or to threaten/intimidate
(3) AND ALWAYS INCL. A FIREARM
Restricted Weapon
means, any weapon, other than a firearm, that is prescribed to be a restricted weapon. NO WEAPONS ARE PREDCRIBED RESTRICTED
Prohibited Weapon?
(1) -knife with blade
(2) opens auto. by gravity or centrifugal force
(3) or by hand pressure to a button, spring or other device
(4) any weapon, other than a firearm, that is prescribe to be a prohibited weapon

Firearm means?
(1) a barreled weapon
(2) any shot, bullet or other projectile can be discharged
(3) capable of causing serious bodily harm or death

Three classifications of firearms
(1) Non-restricted

Non-restricted firearm is?
a firearm that is neither a prohibited nor a restricted (rifle, shotgun etc)
Restricted firearm is?
(1) handgun that is not prohibited
(2) barrel less than 470mm in length and
(3) capable of discharging centre-fire ammo in a semi auto manner
(4) designed or adapted to be fire when reduced in length of less that 660mm by folding, telescoping
(5) firearm prescribed to be restricted
Prohibited firearm?
(1) All auto firearm
(2) small framed handguns
(3) adapted (sawed off shotgun/riffle)
(4) military style assault
Action of the firearm - Automatic firearm (3)
(1) capable of discharging projectiles
(2) rapid succession
(3) one pressure of the trigger
Machine Gun
(1) fully auto
(2) designed to fire rifle rounds
(3) ammunition belt or high capacity mag.
Sub machine gun
(1) machine gun

Prohibited firearms
Small guns
(1) handgun
- that has a barrel equal to or less that 105mm in length or
- designed or adapted to discharge a 25 or 32 calibre cartridge
Transporting non-restricted firearms
(1) must be unloaded
(2) if left unattended in vehicle (i) in the trunk equipped (ii) or out of view
Transporting restricted or prohibited firearms
(1) must be unloaded
(2) rendered inoperable by locking device
(3) in a locked, secure container
Storage of non-restricted firearms
(1) must be unloaded
(2) rendered inoperable by locking device, removal of bolt or bolt carrier, or stored in a locked container or room that cannot be readily broken into
(3) stored in a vault
Storage of restricted or prohibited firearms
(1) must be unloaded and
(2) rendered inoperable by secure locking device, and
(3) stored in a container or room that cannot be readily broken into
(4) no ammo in same container
