Q

. weakness: taking up time

However, some may say that situation ethics requires us to asses each situation individually and takes up to much time which is linking to Benthams Util difficulties. It is hard to isolate situation and also predicts the consequence.

Q
  1. critism of positivism
1.what did Barclay and Pope Puis XII argue
    and a problem with positivism
A

being too individualistic as people see things from their own point of view and therefore the theory of Situation Ethics could be damaged by the selfishness of humans. He also believed the situation ethics seemed to be prepared to accept any action at all if it fits the required criteria so if there was theft or murder the individual could twist the story to his or her advantage

Q

2.weaknesss: justice

A

is that love and justice are not the same as love searches for not what people deserve put more on what people need and justice is what people deserve and therefore it makes it difficult to calculate how to serve love justly.

Q
  1. weakness
A

There are times when it is acceptable to disobey God. If the situation demands it, almost any command of God can be set aside. According to Jesus survival is more important than keeping Gods Law. We have to value what is most important in our lifestyle. For example, many Christians doctors work on Christmas. Saving life is more important than following God’s command. We disobey god law when it contributes more.

Q
  1. weakness

what’s wrong with it being flexible

A

this could lead to unlawful and potentially evil actions classified as ‘loving’ by the perpetrator. This is probably one of the most prominent weaknesses of the Ethic since it assumes that if an act is well motivated by love, it is automatically right, which is evidently flawed.

Q
  1. weakness
what’s wrong with it being flexible
    part 2
A

Should a murderer claim his actions were justified since the outcome would be the most loving, he could not possibly be absolved. It could be argued that such a person’s motives were not loving, but the application of a rather nebulous concept of love to their own principles, resulting in possible exploitation of the Ethicsfundamentals.

Q

Weakness what is the most loving thing to do

A

WHAT IS MOST LOVING?… The biggest issue is that there will always be a dispute as to what is the most loving action and what this actually means in practice, everyone is subjective and have their own interpretations of different things and could see one thing as loving and another not that someone else may object. If two people using this system of ethics came to opposite conclusions as to what they should do, there is no way there dilemma could be solved because it rejects the absolute rules that could guide their actions. To depend a situation on the principle of agape love would be inadequate
