What is meant by functional weakness?
Poor effort, pain or hysteria - no actual pathological reason for the weakness

Cerebral hemisphere
If weakness is distributed across all 4 limbs, where is the likely cause?
High cervical spinal cord
If weakness is distributed across both legs, where is the likely cause?
Low cervical spinal cord
