Weak Flashcards
“Had he not ressembled my father as he slept, had’t i done it”.
- Act 2 scene 2.
-Lady Macbeth who seemingly is instead of the sidelines of Macbeth intent bu rather taking control of the situation, is unable to commit such sinful commission although she criticised Macbeth’s same intent to do so, mostly due to his sex being a man, showing that Lady Macbeth too has the feminine qualities of her sex, and still remains in the Jacobean expression of a female.
“A Great petrubution in nature, to recieve at once, the benefit of sleep, and do the effects of watching.”
- Doctor observes LM sleep walking, as he recognised such madness amongst Lady Macbeth’s intent as she reveals such exposure and vuneribility amongst her character due to succumbing to the madness of guilt in result of Duncan’s murder.
“She has light by her continually”.
- Possible reference that Lady Macbeth is afraid of the dark, unlike her confidence and determination of blood-soaked intent with her interaction darkness and be responsible for destruction and committing to death.
- Descended from a rejection of female qualities, to a form of vulnerability and fearful remarks, needing a presence of light (moral purity and innocence) to anguish the guilt emplaced upon her.
“Out dam spot out, out I say!”.
- Contrast to “A little water will clear us of this deed”.
- Lady Macbeth’s mental strength and the violent nature of her characteristics are faltering .
- Resulting in anxiety and contributed by guilt and dissociation from reality in result to excessive hand washing as she has been stained by physiological horror of the scene relation to Duncan’s death.
What does the repition of the word “out” suggest?
- LM is attempting to excorcise her demons and rid herself of physcological stain.
- Although, the blood is not physically present they are stained with the overwhelming resultant of Duncan’s death expressing the vulnerability of Lady Macbeth’s potential of femininity.
- Afterall, LM was the one to guide Macbeth into falling for such sinful commision.
“All The perfumes of arabia will not sweeten this little hand”.
- Her hand does not only smell or feel unclean but it smells of the sinful commision as an addition.
- Madness has consumed LM’s intent.
“The queen, my lord, is dead”.
- Suicide.
- In Jacobean times, this was seen as a weakness and victims would not result in going to heaven showing that Lady macbeth alhtough presenting a character of dominating charactestoctis and qualities, she in the end is a female in which has no choice but to adapt to such feelings of feminity.
