  • Last stage capable of mitosis since it is last to have nucleoli
  • Round or barely indented nucleus with one or no nucleoli
  • Condensed chromatin early on, cytoplasm mostly blue, & 1 area is pinkish (“dawn of neutrophilia”)
  • Later on, cytoplasm is bluish-pink, then grayish-pink still has some red-purple azurophilic granules pale pink secondary/specific granules begin, may blend in with cytoplasm
