Q

What are the characteristic of lymphocytes

A
  • recognise them by their large nucleus
  • Once you are infected, they produce memory cells, so if you get affected again you react faster

Q

T cells

A

bind to infected cells, becomes activated and divide by mitosis into:

  • T helper
  • T memory
  • T killer

Q

B cells

A

bind to antigens on pathogens in the blood
T helper cells help activate them to divide by mitosis into:

  • B effector
  • B memory

Q

What are the characteristics of neutrophils

A

You can recognise them by their nucleus that has several lobes

  • this makes them flexible & mobile so they can squeeze between cells in the capillary wall to move to where the infection is

They are the most common type of white blood cell
