Removal of hair by the root;
Waxing, tweezing, threading, sugaring
What is depilation? Give 3 example
Removal of the skin at the skins surface;
Cutting, shaving, abrasive gloves, depilatory creams
Why do we apply pressure after epilation?
Without pressure, you can cause bruising.
Applying pressure after epilation, will relieve the sting that comes with waxing, will prevent bruising and make the skin less sensitive
Why should skin be held taut during hair removal?
You want the clients skin to be held firm & taut or else it will be too loose causing bruising and/or bleeding
What are 3 major physiological changes in a women’s life that may cause unwanted hair growth?
Puberty

What is hypertrichosis?
The term used to describe excessive and abnormal hair growth on any part of the body which is more than usually seen in individuals of the same sex, age, race

Why should you not scratch an area you just removed hair from?
Increased blood circulation can lead to itch.
Don’t allow client to scratch, this will irritate the skin, if hives occur, apply a cold compress
