What’s the meaning of Mechanical waves?
Vibration that travels through a substance.
What’s the meaning of Transverse waves?
Waves in which the vibration is perpendicular to the direction of energy transfer.
What’s the meaning of Longitudinal waves?
Waves in which the vibrations are parallel to the direction of energy transfer.
What’s the meaning of Perpendicular?
At right angles.
What’s the meaning of Amplitude?
The height of a wave crest or a wave trough of a transverse wave from the rest position of oscillation motion is the maximum distance moved by another oscillating object from it’s position.
What’s the meaning of Wavelength?
The distance from one wave crest to the next wave crest ( along the waves )
What’s the meaning of Frequency?
The number of wave crests passing a fixed point every second.
What’s the meaning of Reflection?
A wave bouncing of a surface.
What’s the meaning of Refraction?
The change of direction of a light Ray when it passes across a boundary between two transparent substances (including air)
What’s the meaning of Diffraction?
The spreading of waves when they pass through a gap of around the edges of an obstacle which has a similar size as the wave length of the waves.
What’s the meaning of Echo?
Reflection of sound that can be heard.
What’s the meaning of Pitch?
The pitch of a sound increase if the frequency of the sound waves increases.
What is the formula for Wave Speed?
Wave Speed= Frequency x Wavelength
