Q

De Broglie’s Theory

A

That particles have wave like properties.
Confirmed when electrons were used to image crystals and evidence of electron diffraction was observed

Q

Electron Diffraction

A

Distance increases if wavelength increases.

Small accelerating p.d. means electrons with lower momentum.

Wavelength inversely proportional to momentum.

If voltage increases, distance decreases.

For diffraction to occur, the gap size needs to be approximately equal to the De Broglie
