Hydrosphere
Includes all water,ground water,ice caps,lakes,rivers,oceans,water vapor in air
Evaporation
The process by which water molecules in liquid water escape into the air as a water vapor
Condensation
The process in which molecules of water vapor in the air becomes a liquid water
Precipitation
Any form of water that falls from clouds and reaches earth’s surface
Transportation
The process where plants absorb groundwater through their roots and give off water vapor through pores in their leaves
Runoff
Water that flows over the ground surface rather than soaking into the ground
Groundwater
Water that fills the cracks and spaces in underground soil and rock layers
Watershed
The land area that supplies to a river system
Aquifer
An underground layer of rock or sediment that holds water
Wave
The movement of energy through a body of water
Tide
Daily raise and fall of earth’s water on its coastlines

A large stream of moving water that flows through the oceans
Upwelling
The movement of cold water upward from the deep ocean that is caused by wind
Estuary
A coastal intelet or bay where fresh water from river mixes with salty ocean water

Free-swimming water animals that can move throughout the water column
