Water Transport in Multicellular Plants Flashcards
1
Q
Give four different adaptations of the root hair cell which makes it good for the transport of water
A
- Microscopic size= can penetrate easily through soil particles
- Microscopic size= large surface area: volume ratio which means that thousands of hair can be on each root
- Thin surface layer (cell wall and plasma Membrane) means that diffusion and osmosis take place quickly
- Concentration of soultes in cytoplasm Maintains a water potential gradient between soil water and cell
Mah, Mah, Mah,Mah…come on! (like the rihanna song, “I may bad but i’m perfectly good at it!”
