Water Cycle Flashcards
Water at the surface is turned into water vapor
Evaporation
Ice converts directly into water vapor without ever being converted into liquid form
Sublimation
Liquid water is turned into water vapor by plants
Transpiration
Water vapor in the air gets cooled and is turned back into a liquid it forms clouds
Condensation
Water is condensed and the air cannot hold anymore more moisture this excess water falls back to earth as rain sleet snow etc.
Precipitation
Water that is precipitated to earth that does not run off into the river is absorbed by plants and moves deep into the soil
Infiltration
Water that runs over the surface of Earth then the cycle begins again!
Surface runoff
Is water essential to all life
Yes
Does water cover more than 70% of earths surface
Yes
True or false
The earth does not have a specific amount of water on in the amount always changes
False
The earth has a specific amount of water on it and that amount never changes
Will this water be used again
Yes
True or false
There are 10 parts to the water cycle
False there are seven parts for the water cycle evaporation, sublimation, transportation, condensation, precipitation, infiltration, and surface runoff
What are the three states of matter
Solid liquid and gas
True or false
It is not important to remember that during the water cycle water can exist in solid liquid and gaseous form
False it is important
The largest body of water on earth 70% of earths surface
Ocean
