Water Cycle Flashcards
process
- Evaporation / Transpiration
- Condensation (clouds form)
- Precipitation
- Subsurface Runoff
- Surface Runoff
- Accumulation
- Repeat
This is a process where the water is heated and turned into a water vapor
Evaporation
main heat source for evaporation
Sun
the process in which some water within plants evaporates into the atmosphere
Transpiration
The process in which water vapour ( a gas ) in the air turns into a liquid water
Condensation
This is where warm and cold air collide and form ice crystals that condense and form droplets of water
Condensation
The process in which water ( in the form of rain, snow, sleet or hail ) falls from clouds in the sky.
Precipitation
Rain, snow melt, or other water that flows in surface stream rivers, or canal
Surface Runoff
Rain, snow melt or other water that flows in underground streams, drains or sewers
Subsurface runoff
Process in which water pools in large bodies
Accumulation
The water seeps through the soil and ends up in the water table. It then flows into the streams, lakes, oceans and other bodies of water. This process is then repeated again and again
Accumulation
