- Most carbon is stored in the crust and ocean
- Lets scientists calculate how much CO2 can add to the earths atmosphere

- INCREASE in temperature
- Soil turns into sand
- INCREASE in carbon from cutting trees down

- Gases (CO2 and methane) absorb long wave radiation and warm the earth which allows life to exist on earth
