Water Flashcards
The realm of water on the earth is called what?
Hydrosphere
How much percent is water on earth?
71
How much percent is land on earth?
29
What is condensation?
It is the process in which water vapour turns into water.
What is precipitation?
Precipitation is the process in which condensed water vapour falls into the ground such as rain.
What are the types of rainfall?
They are convectional, relief and cyclonic.
What is convectional rainfall?
Convectional rainfall is when the land warms up causing the air above it to warm up aswell which then expands into the air and cools. If continued it can cause rainfall.
What is releif rainfall?
Releif rainfall is when clouds travel over a mountain.Since the clouds are full of rain it needs to release some rain in order to travel up the mountain.Which then causes rain on the windward side and almost no rain on the other side which is the leeward side.
What is cyclonic rainfall?
Cyclonic rainfall is when warm air travels over cool air as the two never meet which causes the warm air to cool and rain.
What is the process of rain?
The process is collection, evaporation, condensation and precipitation.
How do tsunamis occur?
Tsunamis occur when a large mass of water is displaced or because of an underwater earthquake.
Which is the most saltiest sea?
Dead sea
Which is the least saltiest sea?
Artic ocean
Explain spring tide
When the moon earth and sun are in a straight line and the gravitational pull all act together forming high tides.
Explain neap tides
Neap tides occur when sun moon and earth are not in one line but in right angles which causes the gravitational pull to act opposite sides causing low tides
