  • After 9 years of fighting Britain was ready to leave
  • France forced to return the papal states & Nepal in return for British returning Egypt to the ottoman empire
  • Marked a high point in napoleon’s career
  • Now secure and popular a home after securing peace with the 2nd coalitions coinciding with him making himself consul for life
  • Helped to balance the budget
  • However peace with Britain is short lived
