Normal approach and landing

A

Before landing checklist is completed
Downwind - 2300 RPM & 100 kts
Abeam - 1700 RPM, 10 flaps & pitch for 90 kts
Base - 25 flaps & pitch for 80 kts
Final - 40 flaps & pitch for 70 kts
Flare with gradual back pressure - main gear first

Decelerate in ground effect

Visual checkpoint & heading bug
Throttle to 1700 RPM
@ Vfe smoothly extend flaps until 40 degrees
@ 65 kts descend with throttle at idle and raise nose
Maintain coordinated flight with rudder
Calls: horn, mushy controls, buffet, stall

A

Lower nose to horizon - immediately
Apply full power - immediately
Flaps to 25 - immediately
@ positive rate, flaps to 10
@ Vy flaps to 0 (Gently to avoid damage)
@ 100 kts throttle to cruise 2300 - 2400 RPM

Throttle to 1700 RPM
Maintain altitude with pitch
@ Vr (~65 kts) apply back pressure and full throttle
RUDDER to maintain coordinated flight
Calls: horn, mushy controls, buffet, stall

Climb to original altitude
At 100 kts and original altitude, reduce power to cruise

Forward slip to a landing

A

Downwind, base, and final speeds and flaps are the same
On final reduce power to idle and maintain 70 kts
Apply ailerons into the wind, and full opposite rudder
Rudder remains constant while ailerons maintain centerline
Pitch for airspeed
Flare with rudder and ailerons neutral
