Q

Recite your introduction sentence

A

War photographer, published in 1985 as part of Duffy’s collection ‘Standing Female Nude’, is about a war photographer - based in someone he knows - and follows him reminiscing about his job and the effects of it on the public. It was written to express how harrowing this job is, yet goes greatly unappreciated by society.

Q

Recite your conclusion

A

Duffy is a Scottish poet who became the first woman to hold the post of Poet Laureate in 2009. Her poem greatly expresses how harrowing, painful and detaching the job of a war photographer is, yet also looks at how crucial it is, as the reference to ‘Napalm Girl’ signifies how some photos can actually help to end wars.
