Q

Who won the War of 1812 and who lost and why?

A

Technically, neither the British nor the Americans won the war, but I think the Americans won the War of 1812 and the British lost. After multiple battles, Britain and America just wanted peace. I think the U.S. won because the British lost a lot of battles in the war. The British surrendered in the the Battle of Lake Erie and the British-Indian alliance was weakened in the Battle of the Thames. I think it was difficult to find a true winner because status quo antebellum was shown after the war.
