D-Day

A

Day - June 6, 1944
It brought together the land, air, and sea forces of the Allied Armies in what became known as the largest amphibious invasion in military history. The operation, given the codename OVERLORD, delivered five naval assault divisions to the beaches of Normandy, France. Each country was assigned to 1-2 beaches. The U.S. had Omaha and Utah beaches. Led by Eisenhower. Made it look like Calais was the point of attack.

Stalingrad

A

Two million casualties combined. Germans vs. every person they could go against in Stalingrad (S.U.). Hitler didn’t let them retreat. First major Nazi loss. July 17, 1942, Germans bomb Stalingrad - city to rubble. Germans surrendered in 1943.
