War at Home Flashcards
Too early
Late
I ride the bus as usual, listening to middle schoolers scream as usual.
Getting SNEERED at because I’m a FRESHMAN
My first gym class. Gonna kick ass.
English
It’s true?
What?
God Bless America…
YEAH, well of COURSE I CRIED!
(End) -that is simply far too real. I can’t accept the simplicity of it.
I CRIED till it HURT.
Am I safe? I heard that someone at school was talking about beating me up.
My MOM didn’t WANT me to go back to school. I said, “MOM, I’m not going to HIDE in FEAR of these PEOPLE. I’m GOING to school tomorrow.”
Whenever the phone rang, I grabbed it.
Hello?
On East 93rd Street, five miles away, they couldn’t even see the smoke.
Hello?
So many people. Who were they?
I didn’t know anyone.
I called my friend at 8:30 and I was like, “Are you okay?”
Yeah, ha, I’m fine.
Man, I’m sick to death of all this death and destruction.
Oh yeah! Me too.
(End)- to take the elevator up to the observation deck…
Please, daddy. PLEEEEEEEEEEEASE…?
Fourth Period. U.S. History.
I pledge allegiance the flag Of the United States of America-
A patriotic tingle surrounding my skin.
And to the Republic for which it stands-
Softball fields. Cheeseburgers. I feel, American.
One nation, under God-
My allegiance doesn’t lie in a piece of colored cloth.
Individible-
United we stand!
With liberty and justice for all.
But only if you fly the flag, toe the line, keep your mouth shut.
I pledge allegiance to the flag Of the United States of America
(End)- Sweatshop labor in where, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Detroit?
I want to be a PROUD AMERICAN.
When we started bombing Afghanistan, I was glad we were doing something.
SOME people, my DAD for example, say war is the BEST and ONLY solution sometimes. I DON’T WANT to BELIEVE that.
I mostly don’t talk about it. It’s just in my head.
I’m GLAD that we’re bombing. I THINK.
