Point: Buddhism is generally against the use of violence because the first moral precept is to not harm living beings.
Development: Buddhists believe that peace can only happen with mutual respect, and that whilst it is right to speak out against injustice using violence goes against right action.
Point: Christianity is largely against violence as Jesus taught “Blessed are the peacemakers”.
Development: Christian’s are also encouraged to love their enemies, which would lead them to be against violence. In some cases, however, if non-violent protest or action is not working, Christians may feel that it is acceptable to use violence to bring about justice/peace.
Terrorisnm Point: Terrorism is an act of violence that is intended to achieve a political aim through fear and intimidation.
Development Acts of terrorism are usually directed towards civilians and aim to put pressure on governments. Terrorism is criminal offence.
